Turkey's leg!

[I do not think that the photograph reflects how great it looked, because it was taken in the dark kitchen's corner with a mobile, because the batteries in my camera died...]

 To have some savory snacks in the fridge I sometimes buy some turkey legs, bake them in the oven and then we have it for few days when we feel peckish. And this time I also got two legs thinking that would last for a while. I mean, turkey leg...it's pretty big, isn't?!
Well, sometimes a great hunger overcomes a person and then there is nothing better then a WHOLE turkey leg with plenty of boiled vegetables and some mizeria! Followed by a box of homemade vanilla ice-cream!!!
Honestly feeding a husband can be a challenge ;-)
Back to our turkey.
There are so many recipes and so many ways of doing it... But I always make my food simple and quickly. I do not like spending too much time on preparations as that would kill my appetite [too windy preparations would probably end up with buying a take away pizza]. And I do not think I ever stick to one strict recipe - be inventive, but first learn what goes with what... by trying :-)
So what did I try this time?

Ingredients:
2 turkey legs;
1 orange;
2 large onions;
1/2 cup of chicken stock [it can be from the cube];
few cloves of garlic;
herbs - bay leaves, rosmary, tyme;
seasoning - Vegeta, salt, papper, chilly
butter

1. do everything in the roasting pan you will be baking it, so you do not waste any ingredients or make mess anywhere else ;-);
preheat oven;
season turkey well, sprinkle with some orange juice [from half of the orange], add herbs and two wedges of the other half of the orange, so it looks like this:

2.  add thin slices of butter under turkey and on top of it [anything gets better colours after baking with butter]; add wedges of chopped onion and chopped garlic - ready to go to the oven:

3. bake for 1/2 hour in about 220C [gas mark 6 or 7; mine oven is quite hot when set to 6 already] and then...
add a 1/2 cup of stock, cover the turkey with some foil, turn the temperature down to about 190C [gas mark 5] and bake for another 1,5 hour. About couple of times moist the turkey with juices from the tin. Honestly, do not pay too much attention, it should be just fine.
And when it's done - let it rest and eat hot or cold. Enjoy!

PS. we were done with in in one day!
